Why Chennai Homes Have Distinct Vastu Needs
Three things shape Vastu in Chennai and set it apart from other metros. One is Agamic architecture, which follows the same rules as temple building and runs deep in older Chennai homes. These houses are built around a courtyard, face east and have fixed zones for the puja room, kitchen and sleeping. Before I suggest changing one, I need to understand why it was built that way.
The second is the Bay of Bengal. Living close to the sea makes the East zone much stronger. That is good in Vastu terms, but it needs balancing so the East’s health and career zones are not overstimulated. The third is the heat and humidity, which make the South-West zone stagnate faster if it is not looked after.
