Porutham and gun milan are two different tests
In Chennai, a marriage proposal usually comes with one question first: how many poruthams match, and are Rajju and Vedha clear? Families from the north ask a different question, about gun milan, where eight kootas add up to 36 points and 18 is the usual minimum. When a Chennai family is matching with a family from Delhi, Jaipur or Lucknow, the two sides often bring two different reports and two different answers. I run both systems, show you where they agree, and explain the one or two points where they do not. Then I go beyond both: the 7th house and its lord, Venus, and the dasha each of you will run in the first years after the wedding. Jupiter moves into Simham on 31 October 2026, and Rahu enters Makaram on 5 December 2026, with Ketu going to Kadagam the same day. By Pongal, both shifts will have settled in. From porutham to the first flat: the couple and the house
Matching tells a family whether two charts can build a life together. It says nothing about the flat the couple will move into after Thai, and in Chennai that flat is often chosen in a hurry, around the office commute.
A common case: one partner’s 7th lord is weak, and the couple is given the north-east room as the bedroom because it has the best light. Frequently Asked Questions
How many poruthams should match for marriage?
Many families look for six or seven of the ten, with Rajju matching as a firm condition. A count alone can mislead, though. A strong count can sit with a difficult 7th house, and a modest one with two charts that support the marriage well. That is why I read the full charts.
Can you match a Tamil horoscope with a north Indian kundli?
Yes. Both systems begin from the same nakshatras, so I can run the ten poruthams and the 36-point gun milan from the same birth details, and explain each result to both families in plain words.
Is the session available in Tamil?
I do not speak Tamil, so the call is in English or Hindi. If an elder wants to join and is more comfortable in Tamil, a younger family member can help with the few points that need it. The written remedies come in English.
Can you suggest a date for a Thai month wedding?
I can tell you which weeks suit both charts and which to avoid. The final muhurtham time is usually fixed by your family priest from the Tamil panchangam, and I am happy to work alongside him.
What details should I send for a jathagam reading?
Date, exact time and place of birth, and a photo of any old jathagam the family has. If the birth time is uncertain, tell me how it was recorded. I will say which parts of the chart can still be read with confidence.
