A kosthi is not separate from the house you live in. Each house of the chart points to a direction of the home, so in an old family house the same strain can show up in the thakur ghar or the accounts corner.

Many families ask me to look at the year ahead around Kali Puja, which falls on the same Amavasya night as Diwali, and around Poila Baisakh in mid-April, when shops open their new haal khata. These are natural points to check the coming periods for the family and the business. It is not that the chart changes on those days; it is that the family is already thinking about the year.
Old Kolkata houses, the thakur ghar and your chart
Many Kolkata homes are old family houses with a thakur ghar, a courtyard and rooms added over the generations.
