industrial vastu consultant – factory layout vastu diagram

Short answer: in a factory, put the main gate on the north or east side, away from the corners, heavy machines and raw material in the south-west and south, finished goods near the gate in the north-west, and the electrical room and boilers in the south-east. Keep the north-east open, light and clean, and seat the owner in the south-west, facing north or east.

Factory Vastu Layout at a Glance

Here is where each part of the factory belongs. Each zone is explained in detail in the sections below.

ZoneBest use in a factory Vastu layout
North-eastKeep open, clean and light. Underground water tank or borewell. Light offices are fine; no heavy machines, storage or toilets.
NorthMain gate, and general offices for managers and administrative staff.
EastA good side for the main gate, along with the north, as long as the gate stays off the corner. Keep it light and open.
South-eastElectrical room, transformer, generator and distribution boards.
SouthProduction floor and heavy machinery.
South-westOwner or MD cabin, raw material storage, heavy machinery, overhead water tank.
WestProduction floor, raw material storage, overhead water tank.
North-westFinished goods storage and dispatch.
Centre (Brahmasthan)Keep open and light. No heavy machinery.

Why Factory Layout Matters in Vastu

Every building, including a factory, sits within a web of directional influences. Each of the eight directions carries a different natural quality. For example, the north-east stands for clarity and new beginnings. The south-east stands for fire and heat, while the south-west stands for stability and power. When your factory floor plan follows these directions, the space supports the work and keeps people focused and alert.

On the other hand, a badly planned factory often shows clear warning signs. Typical signs include falling productivity, more machine problems, higher staff turnover, and financial strain. In contrast, many owners notice the difference once the layout is corrected. The reason is practical, not mystical: a well-planned layout simply works better.

Choosing the Right Land and Orientation

Good factory Vastu starts before construction. Ideally, choose a square or rectangular plot. Irregular shapes, such as L-shaped or triangular plots, create imbalances that are hard to fix later. The land should slope gently from south to north or from west to east. This lets light and air flow in naturally from the north-east.

Also avoid plots with water bodies or major roads to the south or west. Finally, keep the north-east corner of the plot open, clean, and free of heavy structures.

Each facing has its own rules for the gate and the loading bay. If your plot faces east, read my east-facing factory Vastu guide. There are separate guides for north-facing, south-facing and west-facing factories.

Main Gate Placement

The main entrance is one of the most important elements of factory Vastu. Ideally, place the main gate on the north or east side, away from the corners. These directions invite growth, new opportunities, and a better working atmosphere. The north is ruled by Mercury (commerce and communication), while the east is ruled by the Sun (vitality and leadership).

Avoid a main gate in the south-west. A south gate can work if it sits in the south-east half of the south side; see south-facing factory Vastu. Also keep the main gate well lit, clearly marked, and free of rubbish or clutter.

Factory Vastu by Direction at a Glance

The right gate position depends on which side of the plot faces the road. Here is the short version for each direction, with a detailed guide for each.

  • North-facing factory: one of the best options in Vastu, linked with cash flow and new business. Keep the main gate in the middle of the north side, away from both corners, and keep the north and east of the plot open. Read the north-facing factory Vastu guide.
  • East-facing factory: very good for reputation, approvals and leadership. Keep the main gate between the middle and the north-east end of the east side, short of the corner, and avoid its south-east end. Read the east-facing factory Vastu guide.
  • South-facing factory: workable when planned well. Keep the main gate in the south-east half of the south side, never the south-west half, and build the heavy sheds along the road side. Read the south-facing factory Vastu guide.
  • West-facing factory: suits steady, production-led work. Keep the main gate just south-west of the middle of the west side, and avoid both of its ends. Read the west-facing factory Vastu guide.

Production Area Placement

The production floor, where the core manufacturing happens, belongs in the south-west, west, or south of the factory. These directions stand for stability, endurance, and steady effort, so they support consistent, high-volume production. For the same reason, place heavy machinery, large equipment, and generator sets in these zones too.

Above all, never place heavy machinery in the north-east corner. The north-east is a light, open zone, ideal for clarity and planning. It is not meant for heavy, vibrating equipment. Many factories with chronic machine breakdowns have their heaviest equipment in this zone.

Storage Zones for Raw Materials and Finished Goods

Raw material storage belongs in the west or south-west. Because production also sits in this quadrant, materials flow naturally from storage to production. Keep storage areas clean, dry, and well organised. In contrast, never store raw materials in the north-east, because this blocks light and air and slows workflow.

Finished goods storage works best in the north-west. This direction is ruled by the air element and stands for movement, so it suits products that are waiting to be dispatched. In our experience, factories that store finished goods here report faster inventory turnover and fewer logistics delays.

Office and Administration Placement

General offices for managers and administrative staff work best in the north or north-east of the facility. The owner’s own cabin is best placed in the south-west, which anchors authority. In both cases, the owner and senior managers should sit facing north or east. This supports clear decisions, focus, and business sense.

Avoid placing management offices in the south-east. This fire zone does not support the calm thinking that strategic decisions need, and it often leads to conflict.

Electrical Room and Power Infrastructure

All electrical infrastructure belongs in the south-east corner. This includes the main distribution board, generator, transformers, and high-voltage equipment. In Vastu, the south-east is the zone of Agni, the fire element. That makes it the natural home for anything that generates, stores, or distributes power. In contrast, electrical equipment in other zones, especially the north-east or north-west, is a common cause of breakdowns and power-related accidents.

Water Sources and Drainage

Place underground water tanks, borewells, and water-heavy processes in the north-east. In Vastu, water is the element of the north-east, so a clean water source here supports clarity and a positive work environment. Overhead water tanks, however, belong in the west or south-west.

Make sure all drainage flows away from the north-east. Blocked or poor drainage in this corner is a frequent cause of stagnant output and cash flow.

Factory Vastu Layout Checklist

Use this quick checklist on a site walk. Each point that is not met is a place to start corrections.

  • The plot is square or rectangular, and the north-east corner is open and uncluttered.
  • The main gate is on the north or east side, off the corners, well lit and clear of clutter.
  • Production and heavy machinery sit in the south, south-west or west, never in the north-east.
  • Raw materials are stored in the west or south-west, next to production.
  • Finished goods wait for dispatch in the north-west.
  • The electrical room, transformer and generator are in the south-east.
  • Underground water is in the north-east, the overhead tank in the west or south-west, and drainage flows away from the north-east.
  • The owner sits in the south-west, facing north or east, and the centre of the plant stays open.

Common Factory Vastu Mistakes

  • Main gate in the south-west: one of the most damaging layouts for business growth. On a south-facing plot, keep the gate in the south-east half.
  • North-east corner blocked or used for storage: this stops light and fresh air from entering.
  • Heavy machinery in the centre: the centre (Brahmasthan) should stay open and light.
  • Toilets in the north-east: these seriously disrupt the flow of work, light and air across the facility.
  • Office in the south-east: this fire zone leads to conflict and poor decisions.
  • Cluttered or dark main entrance: this makes for a poorer working atmosphere and fewer opportunities.

Frequently Asked Questions About Factory Vastu

Which direction should the main entrance of a factory face?

North or east is best for most factories. The north attracts wealth, because it is ruled by Kubera, the lord of wealth. The east draws solar prana, the raw vitality that drives production. In contrast, a south-west main gate is a Vastu dosha. A south gate placed in the south-east half of the south side can work well with the right interior zoning.

What does an ideal factory Vastu plan look like?

An ideal factory Vastu plan keeps the north-east open and light, with the main gate on the north or east side, away from the corners. Production, heavy machinery and raw materials sit in the south, south-west and west. Power goes in the south-east and finished goods in the north-west. The table at the top of this guide shows every zone.

What are the most important factory Vastu tips?

Start with the three that matter most: keep the north-east open and clean, place the main gate in the north or east, and move heavy machinery out of the north-east and the centre. Then put electrical equipment in the south-east and dispatch in the north-west. Most of these changes need no demolition.

Where should heavy machinery go in a factory?

Heavy machinery belongs in the south, south-west, or west. These directions belong to the earth element, so they can ground heavy loads without disruption. In contrast, large machines in the north-east, a sensitive zone of water and clarity, are a serious dosha. Vedic tradition links this mistake to accidents, financial leakage, and management conflict.

Where should the owner’s or MD’s cabin be in a factory?

The south-west (Nairutya) zone is the right place for the owner’s or MD’s cabin. This zone carries the heaviest earth element in the Vastu Purusha Mandala, and it anchors the leader’s authority. Ideally, the owner faces north or east while working. Avoid placing the owner in the north-east or north-west.

Can Vastu corrections be made in an already-built factory?

Yes, and this is one of AlignAura’s specialities. In my experience, most corrections in existing factories need no demolition. Instead, we reassign which work happens in which zone. We also reposition workstations, correct geopathic stress, and balance elements through colour and material. I mark up your floor plan zone by zone before I recommend any physical change.

How does geopathic stress affect factory productivity?

Geopathic stress comes from underground water veins, Hartmann grid crossings, and geological fault lines. Workers who spend long hours above these zones often report more fatigue and weaker concentration. Over time, this can mean more accidents, more absenteeism, and more machine faults. Productivity slowly drops. For this reason, a geopathic survey is always part of our industrial assessment.

How long before results become visible?

The first signs owners usually mention are better worker morale and fewer minor equipment issues. Owners who take Astro-Vastu, where the layout is matched to the owner's horoscope, usually report a positive change within about 21 days and results within about 90. With Vastu alone, the pace follows the owner's chart. Book your industrial Vastu consultation to begin the assessment.

How long does an industrial Vastu consultation take?

A standard factory assessment takes 2 to 4 hours on site. Alternatively, a detailed remote assessment takes 45 to 60 minutes, using floor plans and compass readings. Either way, you receive a written report with clear, prioritised corrections within 48 hours. We answer your questions while you carry out the changes.

Balancing the Five Elements in a Factory

At the elemental level, factory Vastu is about mastering the Pancha Bhuta. Heavy machinery concentrates the Fire and Earth elements, so production floors often feel dense and heavy. This suppresses the Air and Space elements that problem-solving and clear management need. Saurabh Sen restores elemental balance across the whole floor plan, not just the entrance or the owner’s cabin. He also tunes each recommendation to the owner’s nakshatra, the lunar constellation that shapes their strengths and timing. In this way, the corrected space builds on the owner’s natural abilities.

How Does the Ishan Corner Influence Factory Vastu?

The ishan corner is the north-east direction in Vastu Shastra. It is the most spiritually powerful zone in any space. Within the Pancha Bhuta framework, it is ruled by water, and it gets the first morning sun. Keep this area open and clutter-free. The Vastu Purusha Mandala also places the deity Isha (Shiva) in the north-east, which is why this direction is sacred. When it is out of balance, health problems and financial plateaus often follow. Fortunately, you can correct this zone through reorganisation, mirror placement, or a water feature.
