Reading an old handwritten jataka
Many Rajajinagar families still keep the jataka an elder had written by hand when the child was born, sometimes a folded sheet in Kannada with the panchanga workings in the margin. I respect it, but I still check it. Older charts were often worked out from a local almanac and a birth time read off the clock on the wall, so the Lagna can shift if that time was a few minutes out.
I cast the chart again from the date, time and place, then put the two side by side. If the Lagna and the Moon nakshatra agree, we go ahead. If they differ, I ask about a few known events, such as the year of a marriage, a move or a parent passing away, and use the dasha periods to see which version fits the life that has actually happened. After that, we get to your actual question.
Selling, rebuilding or dividing the family house
In an older layout like Rajajinagar, the family home often sits on a site bought two generations ago, and the next generation has to decide what to do with it. In the chart I look at the 4th house for property and home, its lord, and Saturn, which shows slow and long-term decisions. The running dasha tells me whether this is a period to hold, to build or to let go.
I also look at the charts of the people who will live with the decision, not only the eldest. A sale that suits the father may fall in a hard period for the son who has to manage it.
