Short answer: Rahu enters Capricorn and Ketu enters Cancer on 5 December 2026, and the pair stays on this axis through 2027, moving backwards as the nodes always do. They change sign about every eighteen months. By tradition Rahu helps most from the 3rd, 6th, 10th and 11th from your Moon: Scorpio, Leo, Aries and Pisces.
What changes on 5 December 2026
On 5 December 2026 Rahu leaves Aquarius for Capricorn, and Ketu leaves Leo for Cancer. The nodes move backwards and always sit opposite each other, so one shift touches two houses of your chart. They stay on this axis for roughly eighteen months, so this is the Rahu Ketu transit for all of 2027.
Capricorn is Saturn’s sign and Cancer belongs to the Moon. In the natural zodiac this is the 10th and 4th house axis: career and public standing on one side, home and inner peace on the other. Many people feel pulled between pushing at work and stepping back from it.
Most Vastu texts give Rahu the south-west of a house. When Rahu changes sign, a home with a cut or open south-west tends to amplify what the chart is already showing for some people, while others living in the same flat barely notice.
Other planets that colour this transit
- Jupiter is in Leo from 31 October 2026, so it is already in place when the nodes move. See my Jupiter transit page for its own sign readings.
- Saturn rules Capricorn, Rahu’s new sign. When Saturn enters Aries on 3 June 2027, its 10th aspect falls on Capricorn and on Rahu. The Saturn side of 2027 is on my Saturn transit 2027 page.
- The solar eclipse of 2 August 2027 falls in Cancer, near Ketu, and is visible in India. I cover sutak on my eclipse 2027 page.
Rahu and Ketu transit for each Moon sign
Use your Moon sign (rashi), and your Lagna too if you know it. Houses are counted from the Moon.
Aries (Mesh)
Rahu moves into your 10th and Ketu into your 4th. Work ambition rises, and so can the pull to change roles or chase a bigger title. Ketu in the 4th can leave you restless at home. The 10th is one of Rahu’s better houses, so use the push for career, not for shortcuts.
Taurus (Vrishabh)
Rahu in the 9th, Ketu in the 3rd. Questions about belief, higher study, long travel and your father come up. Ketu in the 3rd can make you less keen on routine effort.
Gemini (Mithun)
Rahu goes to the 8th and Ketu to the 2nd. Shared money, insurance, in-laws and sudden changes need a careful eye, and family speech can turn sharp. Keep documents in order and avoid risky loans.
Cancer (Kark)
Ketu sits on your Moon sign while Rahu moves through your 7th. Old goals can feel distant, and partners may bring unusual demands. Listen more than you react, and check new partnerships twice.
Leo (Simha)
Rahu in the 6th is one of its strongest places: competition, debts and disputes can be handled with persistence and smart effort. Ketu in the 12th favours rest, spiritual practice and foreign links, and can also mean quiet spending. Jupiter in your sign adds support.
Virgo (Kanya)
Rahu in the 5th and Ketu in the 11th. Children, studies, romance and investments get Rahu’s appetite, so stay away from speculation driven by excitement. Ketu in the 11th can thin out your social circle, and that is not always a loss.
Libra (Tula)
Rahu moves into the 4th and Ketu into the 10th. Home, property, vehicles and mother’s matters ask for attention, and you may feel unsettled in your current place. At work, Ketu can make a familiar role feel empty. Think before a sudden resignation.
Scorpio (Vrishchik)
Rahu in the 3rd is traditionally favourable. Courage, media, writing, short travel and new skills get a lift, and you may take bolder steps than usual. Ketu in the 9th can question old beliefs or create distance from a guru or father figure.
Sagittarius (Dhanu)
Rahu in the 2nd and Ketu in the 8th. Money, food habits and family talk need care, and big promises from others should be checked. Ketu in the 8th often brings interest in research, astrology or the hidden side of things.
Capricorn (Makar)
Rahu enters your own Moon sign and Ketu sits opposite in the 7th. You may want to reinvent yourself, change your look or your field. Partnerships can feel unclear. From June 2027 Saturn, your sign lord, also aspects Rahu from Aries, which adds weight.
Aquarius (Kumbh)
Rahu in the 12th and Ketu in the 6th. Foreign travel, sleep and spending on others come into view, and expenses can creep up. Ketu in the 6th usually helps you get past rivals and old disputes without much noise.
Pisces (Meen)
Rahu in the 11th is one of its best placements: gains, new networks and older siblings can bring openings. Ketu in the 5th can make you less certain about romance, studies or children’s choices.
A short checklist for the node shift
- Find the two houses Rahu and Ketu move into from your Moon and your Lagna
- Check your running dasha: if you are in Rahu mahadasha or Ketu mahadasha, this transit is felt far more strongly
- Note any natal planet in Capricorn or Cancer; the nodes pass over it during these months
- Read a kaal sarp label calmly; a transit does not create a dosha in your birth chart
Career and marriage are the two areas people ask about most during a node shift. How I time a job change is on my career astrology page, and the houses I weigh for weddings are on marriage timing astrology. If Rahu already sits in your 7th house at birth, read Rahu in the 7th house first, because this transit works on top of it.
The Capricorn and Cancer axis, in your chart and in your home
A node shift is read house by house from the chart, but the same two houses also have places in the home, and that is where people often feel the change first. When I study the chart and the floor plan side by side, I can see whether the zones tied to your Rahu and Ketu houses are calm, crowded or cut away, and whether that matches what you are going through.
Take a Cancer Moon. Ketu sits on the Moon sign and Rahu crosses the 7th, the house of partners. I would look at the north-west, the Moon’s zone, and at the south-west master bedroom before saying anything about a relationship. The ₹1,499 astrology call is a simple way to begin. To have both read in one sitting, see my chart and home consultation.
Your own reading for the node shift
Moon sign readings are a starting point. On a 45-minute call for ₹1,499, online or at my Begur studio by appointment, I place Rahu and Ketu in your own kundli, check them against your dasha, and tell you which months need care. My written remedies reach you within 48 hours. You can book the call here, or first read how an online astrology consultation with me works.
Frequently Asked Questions
When does Rahu enter Capricorn?
On 5 December 2026. Ketu enters Cancer on the same day, since the two always sit opposite each other. They stay on the Capricorn and Cancer axis for about eighteen months, so the whole of 2027 is read with Rahu in Capricorn.
Which signs benefit from the Rahu Ketu transit 2027?
By tradition Rahu gives its best results from the 3rd, 6th, 10th and 11th houses from the Moon. With Rahu in Capricorn that means Scorpio, Leo, Aries and Pisces Moon signs. Your Lagna and running dasha can change this, so treat it as a first guide only.
Is Ketu in Cancer bad for Cancer Moon sign?
Not bad, but noticeable. Ketu on the Moon sign often brings detachment, a wish for quiet and less interest in old goals. Used well, it suits reflection, spiritual practice and letting go of what no longer fits. It is wise to avoid hasty decisions made only from restlessness.
Does the Rahu Ketu transit cause kaal sarp dosh?
No. Kaal sarp is read only from the birth chart, from where the planets sat when you were born. A transit can briefly put all planets on one side of the nodes in the sky, but that is a passing pattern for everyone, not a personal dosha.
What remedies help during Rahu transit?
I start with practical steps: a steady routine, clear paperwork, fewer impulsive commitments, and chanting if it suits you. I do not sell gemstones, yantras or pujas. Any remedy I suggest comes after reading your own chart, because the same transit asks for different things in different charts.
