Short answer: AI astrology is accurate at calculation: planet positions, dashas and yogas come out right when the birth data is right. It is weak at judgement: weighing conflicting factors, checking a doubtful birth time and fitting the chart to your actual life. I use software for chart mapping and check every reading myself.
Where I stand on this
I am not against AI. My practice is AI-assisted, checked by Saurabh: software maps the chart and runs the cross-checks, and I go through every finding myself before it reaches you. So this page is not a human-versus-machine sales pitch. It is what I have seen from working with both, every week.
The question people actually ask me is shorter: can I trust the app? My honest answer is to trust its arithmetic and question its conclusions. The rest of this page explains why.
One gap shows up quickly. An app reads a chart in isolation, but a planet also shows up in the directions of the home you live in, and no app asks to see your floor plan before telling you what to do.
What AI and software do well
- Calculation. Planetary positions have been computed by software for decades, and good programs are reliable to a fraction of a degree. I would not draw a chart by hand today.
- Dasha tables. Mahadasha, Antardasha and smaller periods worked out to the day in seconds.
- Lists. Every yoga and dosha the textbooks mention, flagged at once.
- Explaining basics. What a house or a nakshatra means, in plain language, at two in the morning.
- Cost. Many apps cost little or nothing, which makes them a fine way to start learning.
Where it misses
- Wrong inputs go unnoticed. A birth time off by twenty minutes can change the lagna and every house after it. An app will read the wrong chart confidently. I check the time against events in your life before I trust it.
- Weighing is the real skill. A chart always holds signals that pull in different directions. Textbooks describe each one alone; the work is deciding which one wins for you, now.
- Context. The same dasha reads very differently for a 22-year-old student and a 50-year-old founder. A chatbot answers what you type, not what you left out.
- Invented positions. General chatbots that do not actually calculate a chart can state a planet’s sign wrongly and sound sure about it. Always check positions against proper software.
- Generic remedies. Suggesting a gemstone by sign alone, without checking which houses that planet rules in your chart, can give you the wrong stone.
- Fear without follow-up. A label like Manglik or Kaal Sarp, printed without its cancellations, leaves people worried for years.
Side by side
| Task | AI or software | What I add |
|---|---|---|
| Calculating positions | Fast and reliable | I verify the birth data first |
| Dasha periods | Exact dates | Which period matters for your question |
| Yogas and doshas | Long lists | Which are active and which are cancelled |
| Interpretation | Textbook meanings | Weighed against the whole chart and your life |
| Remedies | Generic, by sign | Chosen for your chart; nothing to buy from me |
| Follow-up | Answers what you ask | Asks what you did not think to ask |
How I use it in my own readings
Before your call, the software draws your chart, the divisional charts and the dasha timeline, and flags patterns worth a look. I then read it the slow way: lagna and Moon first, the running period next, then the house of your question. Anything the software flagged that does not hold up, I drop. When the software and my reading disagree, my reading goes into your report, and I tell you on the call why I set the software aside. I have described the same split for Vastu in how my AI-assisted consultations work, and what a full reading covers is on kundli analysis.
Using AI astrology sensibly
- Use it to learn the basics and to get your chart drawn.
- Check that the birth time and place it used are right.
- Do not take a marriage, job or property decision from a chatbot alone.
- If a result frightens you, get a second opinion before acting on it.
- Be wary of apps that move quickly from a reading to selling stones or rituals.
If you are curious about how the Vedic system differs from sun-sign astrology, which many apps mix up, I have compared them in Vedic and Western astrology.
When a human reading is worth it
When the decision is big, when the app’s answers contradict each other, or when a dosha label is worrying you, a person who can weigh the whole chart and ask you questions makes the difference. If you are in Bengaluru and prefer to meet, I see clients at my studio; more on that on my astrologer in Bangalore page.
What no app can read: your chart and your floor plan
AI is good at drawing the chart and listing yogas. What it cannot do yet is look at the home or office you spend your days in and connect it to the period you are running. That connection is where I find many of the most useful remedies.
Suppose your chart shows a Saturn mahadasha with Saturn under strain. An app might list mantras. I would also ask about the west of your home, Saturn’s zone, and whether a balcony or a cut sits there. The ₹1,499 kundli reading is the easy first step. To have the chart and the space checked by a person, see my Astro-Vastu consultation, where software helps with the mapping and I check each finding myself.
Book a reading
A reading is a 45-minute call, online or at my Begur studio, for ₹1,499 for one kundli, with written remedies within 48 hours. The details are on my online astrology consultation page, or you can book directly.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is AI astrology accurate?
At calculation, mostly yes, if your birth data is right: positions, dashas and yoga lists come out correctly. At interpretation it is far weaker, because it cannot weigh conflicting factors or check a doubtful birth time against your life. Treat it as a starting point, not a final reading.
Can ChatGPT read my birth chart?
A general chatbot can explain what a placement means, but unless it runs real chart software it may state positions wrongly with confidence. Draw your chart in proper astrology software first, then use a chatbot only for background reading, not for decisions.
Do you use AI in your readings?
Yes. Software draws the chart, the divisional charts and the dasha timeline, and flags patterns. I then read and check every finding myself before the call, and the written remedies come from me. That is what AI-assisted, checked by Saurabh means in practice.
Is it safe to put my birth details into an AI astrology app?
Your name with date, time and place of birth is personal data. Read the app’s privacy policy, avoid apps that ask for more than they need, and be careful with anything that links to your contacts. I use your details only for your reading.
Will AI replace astrologers?
It will replace the calculation work, which software took over long ago. It is less likely to replace judgement: weighing a whole chart against a real person’s life and asking the right follow-up question. Astrologers who use AI well and check its output will likely serve clients better.
