How the muhurat year runs in 2027
Every year has stretches when the panchang opens for weddings, moving into a new home and starting things, and stretches when it closes. 2027 begins inside one closed stretch, Dhanu kharmas, which runs from about 16 Dec 2026 to 14 Jan 2027. Before that, the season opens with Dev Uthani Ekadashi on 20 Nov 2026 and Tulsi Vivah on 21 Nov, and wedding dates begin from 21 Nov 2026.
A muhurat chooses the moment; the chart decides how that moment lands for you. And whichever planet rules your chosen hour also has its own side of the house, which is why I sometimes ask which room a ceremony will happen in.
Below is how 2027 lays out month by month, using only the festival and transit dates I am sure of. The exact wedding and griha pravesh days inside each month depend on the panchang you follow and, more importantly, on your chart.

Two more checks run through the whole year. Weddings are traditionally avoided while Jupiter or Venus is combust, and I confirm those weeks from the panchang rather than from memory. And an eclipse day, plus its sutak, is left out for every kind of start.
Marriage muhurat 2027
For a wedding I look first for the classic vivah stars: Rohini, Mrigashira, Magha, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Swati, Anuradha, Mula, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada and Revati. Then the tithi, the lagna at the time of the pheras, and, most of all, both partners’ charts. A date can be perfect in a calendar and still sit badly with the bride’s or groom’s running dasha. Moving in, property and vehicles

Starting a business or a new job
Opening a shop, registering a company or joining a new role does not stop for Chaturmas, and Ugadi, Akshaya Tritiya and the days before Diwali are popular for it. What matters more is whether your 10th house and its lord are in a supporting period, which is the core of career astrology. If the dasha is not ready, the best festival date will not do the work alone.
Why a calendar date is only half the answer
Published muhurat lists are made for everyone, so they cannot account for your birth star or your Moon. I add tara bala, counted from your nakshatra, and chandra bala, counted from your Moon sign, and I look at the dasha you will be running on that day. For a wedding I do this for both of you. A good date, and a home ready to receive it
A muhurat fixes when something begins. Your home decides how comfortably it continues, and reading the two together closes that gap. Say I set a couple’s wedding date from both charts, with the 7th house lord well placed that day. I would also look at the south-west of the home they will live in, the zone for the couple’s bedroom, and at whether the Brahmasthan in the centre is kept open, so the place matches the timing.

Do I need a muhurat if I follow a printed panchang?
A printed list is a sound starting point, but it is made for everyone. It cannot see your birth star or your running dasha. For a wedding or a move, I would check at least tara bala and chandra bala for the people involved.
Is a muhurat needed for an engagement?
It helps, though it is lighter than a wedding muhurat. For a roka, sagai or ring ceremony I look for a good weekday and nakshatra, and make sure the day does not fall in a weak stretch for either chart. Many families fix the engagement and the wedding date from the same reading.
