Where Surat families live
Surat has three kinds of home on my screen. In the old city, around Gopipura, Nanpura and the walled area, houses are narrow, deep and often three or four storeys tall on a small footprint, with the stair taking a big slice of each floor. In the growing west, in Adajan, Pal, Vesu and Althan, most families live in high-rise flats, many of them large units with long balconies. And between the two there are row houses and society bungalows in places like Piplod and Citylight.
The old houses need a vertical reading. When four floors sit on one small plot, I check the same zone on every level, because a toilet stacked in the north-east through three floors is a pattern I take seriously. In the towers, the issue is usually that the plan is generous but the use is not: the north-east room ends up as a store, and the south-west becomes the children’s play area. Swapping use is often the first remedy.
Humidity, monsoon and the Tapi
Surat is coastal and humid, and the monsoon brings heavy rain. Low parts of the city near the Tapi have a history of flooding, so families here are already careful about ground floors and drainage. For Vastu, that matters because the north and north-east are the right sides for water to flow out. I ask where your rainwater and drain lines leave the plot and where the underground tank sits. Damp walls also deserve attention; a damp south-west corner is worth fixing for both reasons.
Homes that double as offices
Many Surat families run a business, and the accounts, samples or a small office often sit inside the house. Where that desk goes changes a lot. I usually want the person handling money to sit facing north or east, with the cash cabinet against the south or west wall. My page on office Vastu explains the logic. A separate shop or textile office in the markets is a commercial job and is quoted on request.

Each floor is priced at ₹1,499. If the whole family lives across the floors as one household, tell me when you book and we will plan the call so the shared stair and entrance are covered properly.
Can you compare flats in Vesu or Pal before we book?
Yes. Send the unit plans with north marked, and I will tell you which one sits better for your family before you pay. My flat-buying checklist covers what to note on a site visit.
Where should the cash locker go in a home office?
Generally against the south or south-west wall, opening towards the north. It depends on the plan and on your chart, so we confirm it on the call.
Do you do Vastu for diamond units or textile shops?
Yes, through commercial Vastu, quoted on request after I see the layout and size.
Can we speak Gujarati in the session?
I do not speak Gujarati. My sessions are in Hindi, English or Bengali. Most Surat business families are fluent in Hindi, so this rarely gets in the way.
